Markerstudy Group is delighted to announce its continuing commitment to insured motorists by simplifying and improving the process following an incident.
Being unveiled at BIBA, Synchronicity is a combined services solution, encompassing a fully integrated FNOL and claims management service.
The new proposition is twofold. Not only does the policyholder travel a convenient and seamless journey, from the minute they make a claim through to completion, but the broker or insurer also benefits.
Having acquired leading automotive glazing company Auto Windscreens in 2011, along with national vehicle repair network TCW Group, and credit and intervention hire organisation Vision Vehicle Solutions in 2012, the group has been researching and developing this proposition internally, with superb results. The services provided by each company fit meaningfully together to give business partners a comprehensive, fast and efficient claims management solution for their customers.
Saleem Miyan, Group Operations Director, said: “The Synchronicity concept is all about continuity and providing a flawless end-to-end customer experience throughout any motor claim. Through just one call to an expert claims handler, Synchronicity enables access to credit or intervention hire, vehicle repairs and glass replacement, wherever the customer is in the UK.”
In addition, Synchronicity includes ‘MyAuto’, an app which combines a dedicated accident module and reporting tool incorporating the customer’s policy details, white labelled to each business partner.
“Customer satisfaction and retention are at the forefront of our industry and it is with these in mind that we seized the opportunity to develop Synchronicity,” added Saleem. “Its joined up approach ensures customers receive the best service available; the right people, in the right place, at the right time.”
Find out more about Synchronicity on our website, or go to stand F1 at BIBA 2013.

Once upon a time there was an insurance company called Markerstudy. It wasn’t quite like any other insurance company. While it took its business very seriously, especially its many broker friends, it never forgot to keep its sense of fun.
You’ll find that we like to embrace the unusual, whether it’s our eclectic range of niche motor insurance products or our comprehensive and distinctive Synchronicity accident management offer. Comprising TCW Group, Auto Windscreens and Vision, we are officially unveiling our new brand at this year’s BIBA!
So come and visit us on Stand F1. Whatever your motoring needs we’ll do our best to make sure you live happily ever after.

Fleet Assistant for Markerstudy Group, Sam Knott, was shortlisted as one of three finalists for the IDEX Young Achiever of the Year Award by the Insurance Institute of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Sam attended the annual dinner with Talent Developer Vicky Jackson on 22nd March for the awards presentation. All finalists were described by the Institute as ‘meeting the high criteria for the award and... had excellent supporting references from their employers’.
Having worked for the group for nearly three years, Sam’s entry focused on his exceptional work ethic, volunteer work, ambition and drive, and enthusiasm and passion. He helped the group’s Talent Development Team determine the content of Shooting Stars, a programme which is aimed at employees who are considered to be future leaders, and was one of the first to take the course.
Sadly Sam was pipped to the post and didn’t win the award, but the group is very proud he made it to the finals. He said: “I was very humbled to be nominated and shortlisted for the CII Young Achievers Award, and despite not winning it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.”

A little magic goes a long way, and over the years Markerstudy’s stands at BIBA have become the stuff of legends. It’s sometimes hard to see the wood from the trees when you’re lost in the middle of a grim recession, but that won’t prevent us from trying to put the fun into insurance – and the gilt on the gingerbread.
There’s no doubt witch stand will be casting a spell on visitors to BIBA this year. Whatever your motor insurance needs and challenges, Markerstudy will be doing everything possible to ensure a happy ending.
Come and visit us at Stand F1!
After stealing the show in 2011 with a majestic HMS Markerstudy ship, and flying the flag in 2012 with an impressive 19ft high white castle, Markerstudy Group is hoping its next stand at BIBA will whet appetites for even more fun.
Lizzie Smith-Foreman, Head of Group Marketing and Communications for Markerstudy Group, is keeping tight-lipped about the 2013 theme but did reveal: “Visitors to our stand are in for a treat – it’s our most ambitious yet and it’s what dreams are made of.
“Our Business Development team will be ‘in character’ alongside the Markerstudy Directors and key people from our insurance and ancillary businesses. In addition to giving visitors a great opportunity to explore the ‘forest’ of niche products and services we now offer, we’ll be launching our brand new one-call customer concept at BIBA!”

It was no ordinary day at Auto Windscreens in Chesterfield on Friday as the customer contact centre swapped windscreen repair calls for Red Nose Day donations, taking £££s for Comic Relief.
Auto Windscreens’ employees also raised over £1,000 for the cause through a gruelling English Channel rowathon, fun fancy dress, cakes sales and an auction. Donated auction items included signed boots from new F1 driver Max Chilton, Chesterfield Football Club tickets, a Topflight Autocentre MOT and meals at Casa Hotel, Twin Oaks Hotel and Sheffield’s Double Tree Hilton Hotel.
Auto Windscreens was selected as an official Red Nose Day call centre back in February and answered over 1,400 calls from generous members of the public on the night, between 6pm and midnight. Over 60 employees volunteered to take donations and were joined by staff from neighbouring Zenith Insurance and vehicle repair company TCW Group.
Claire Church, Auto Windscreens’ Contact Centre Manager, said: “We all had an absolutely fantastic time and I’m proud of everyone for their efforts and for creating such a fun-filled atmosphere. All our volunteers did a great job answering as many calls as possible!”

About Red Nose Day:
Red Nose Day 2013 is heading your way on Friday 15th March when the great British public will once again be asked to Do Something Funny for Money.
By raising cash this Red Nose Day, you’re helping to change lives forever. That’s because Comic Relief spends the money raised to help change the lives of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa
Comic Relief was launched on Christmas Day in 1985, live on BBC One. At that time, a devastating famine was crippling Ethiopia and something had to be done. That something was Comic Relief. The idea was simple – Comic Relief would make the public laugh while they raised money to help people in desperate need. Before too long, Red Nose Day was created and the first ever event in 1988 raised a staggering £15m. To date, thirteen Red Nose Days have raised more than £600m. That money has helped, and is helping, to support people and communities in dire need both in the UK and Africa.

Auto Windscreens has raised £390 for Ashgate Hospice by holding a summer themed day in the middle of winter at its headquarters in Storforth Lane, Chesterfield.
While temperatures plummeted outside, 50 Auto Windscreens employees dressed down in shorts, t-shirts and sun dresses, enjoyed maypole dancing, played summer fete games and held a cake sale, all in aid of the hospice. The event was part of the first ever ‘Markerstudy Day’ in late 2012, when group staff in offices throughout the UK undertook various activities to raise funds for good causes.
Ashgate Hospice is an independent registered charity that provides specialist palliative care to around 3,000 people and their families at home, in hospital and at the hospice every year. Some 60% of the running costs of the hospice are raised purely through voluntary contributions and donations.
Alison Ward-Foster, Corporate and Events Fundraiser at Ashgate Hospice, said: “We’re delighted national company Auto Windscreens chose to support us at the event. We estimate we will need to raise around £3m in 2013-14 to continue to provide much needed support to people across North Derbyshire, and we appreciate every single pound donated to help us reach this target.”
For further details about Ashgate Hospice and to make a donation, visit www.ashgatehospice.org. For more information about Auto Windscreens, call 0800 999 5000 or visit www.autowindscreens.co.uk.

As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, Markerstudy Group has signed up to City & Guilds’ Million Extra campaign, and has already taken on ten apprentices for its brand Zenith Insurance.
The Million Extra project was launched in 2011. It aims to bring employers, training centres and learners together to create a million apprenticeships by Summer 2013.
Markerstudy worked with Bromley College to shortlist and screen candidates, and employed its first two Claims Apprentices at its office in Haywards Heath, a year ago. The group used an insurance expert at the college to assess candidates and offer them industry-relevant guidance and support. The apprentices’ training in CII Level 2 Award in Insurance, Legal and Regulatory was also funded by the group.
A further eight positions were filled in November in the Third Party Claims department in Chesterfield, which is also the headquarters for group brand Auto Windscreens. Markerstudy intends to take on a further two apprentices in 2013 to join the team.
Anita Gray, Project Manager at Markerstudy Group, said: "According to the National Apprenticeship Service, 81% of consumers favour using a company which hires apprentices, so it makes real business sense for us to get involved in the Million Extra project. Employing apprentices not only enables us to offer young people a stepping stone to a successful career, we’ve also found their eagerness to learn and their fresh ideas can make a positive impact on our bottom line.
“Apprenticeships work wonders for the industry too – it’s important we keep attracting the best new talent. At Markerstudy, we’re proud to put the fun in insurance and demonstrate that a role in financial services can far exceed expectations.”

Hosted by Markerstudy Directors Kevin Spencer (Group CEO), Gary Humphreys (Group Underwriting Director), Keith Barber (Group Finance Director) and Saleem Miyan (Group Operations Director) with a supporting cast of front-line staff including Paul Copeland, Neil Hayden, Matt Tozer (Business Development Managers), Wendy Hilder (Group Underwriting Manager) and Lizzie Smith-Foreman (Head of Group Marketing and Communications). Guests including Tony Allen (The A&A Group), Carl Shuker (A-Plan), and John Wilson (Wilsons) gathered with anxious looks.
Gary Humphreys commented: “We’re keen to make our Christmas celebrations memorable and this year’s gift idea was inspired. It’s been a closely guarded secret, but our friends were aware that trouble was afoot, or, as it turned out, 3 foot – in the guise of a personalised puppet!”
With a reputation for fun preceding them, the first puppet was unveiled to a bemused Tony Allen, to deafening laughter and amazement. Three months in the making, and personalised to each and every guest, the puppets were an outstanding success.
Kevin Spencer summed up the afternoon’s entertainment: “As is to be expected from this fine body of insurance folk, they took the puppets in their stride and appeared genuinely delighted in having a ‘mini-me’ to take home and play with!”

With the end of year in sight, Markerstudy Group has announced its latest acquisition which completed on 17th December. The accident management company, Vision Vehicle Solutions Limited, has been snapped up by the Group which is seeking to launch an integrated motor service offering to the insurance market early in 2013.
Vision, established in 1995 and privately owned by Martin Wills and Tony Copeland, will retain its trading location in Maidenhead, Berkshire and all staff positions are secure. Plans are already in place to strengthen its Nationwide coverage.

We are delighted that Martin and Tony have agreed to join the Group, providing their extensive knowledge in the accident management arena and bolstering this area of our business.
“With the demise of Drive Assist, we believe we are even better positioned to provide a claims management, credit hire and repair proposition. Automotive glazing supplier Auto Windscreens has bagged its first deal in the retail sector with supermarket Morrisons.
Auto Windscreens successfully completed a three month trial for Morrisons in Kent and Glasgow, to check out processes, procedures and service at both ends of the country. It has now been named the sole glazing provider for the fleet of commercial vehicles delivering products from nine distribution centres to 480 stores around the UK. Auto Windscreens expects to undertake around 450 jobs annually on Morrisons’ vehicles, which, depending on the time of year, number between 650-750.
Auto Windscreens’ Sales Director, Joy Cooper, said: "Winning the Morrisons account is a huge coup for us. Its vehicles operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work to very tight deadlines, so it requires the highest standard of service from its suppliers. We’re proud to be working with Morrisons and look forward to helping it keep its commercial vehicles on the road."
John Ward, Head of the Vehicle Maintenance Unit at Morrisons, said: "Auto Windscreens demonstrated a commitment to deliver the right solution in terms of service delivery and price competitiveness, and we’re pleased to have them on board.”
Auto Windscreens has grown significantly in the last year, opening new fitting centres in the South East, Wales and the East Midlands, and expanding its national and regional sales teams to meet increased customer demand. Markerstudy Group, known primarily for insurance brands, kicked off its first ever industry-wide 5-a-side Football Championship at Hampton & Richmond Borough FC (HRBFC) in October, raising a total of £28,975, which was split between the club and the charity Help for Heroes.
The sun shone and the rain played away as more than 150 players in 20 teams from national insurance and motoring companies, including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hastings Direct and Zenith Insurance, battled it out during the knock-out tournament. Auto Windscreens’ ‘AW White Lightning’ were ’on the ball’, beating off stiff competition to finally lift the winner’s trophy.
Steve McPherson, Chairman of HRBFC, said: “I’d like to thank the Markerstudy Group for this exceptionally kind donation to the club. They have been great supporters of the club for a long time now and their continued generosity will help us in the growth of our Academy and Community programmes. Also this will give the club a boost through the winter months when the weather can sometimes lead to long runs without a home game."
Bryn Parry, OBE, CEO and Co-Founder of Help for Heroes commented: “Help for Heroes is all about ‘doing your bit’ and the football tournament organised by Markerstudy Group is a wonderful example of people having a good idea, rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. We have been able to use the millions of pounds raised, over £150m in five years, to provide practical, direct support to wounded, injured and sick Service personnel, veterans and their families. We may not be able to prevent them from being hurt, but together, we can help them get better.”
Lizzie Smith-Foreman, Head of Group Marketing and Communications, added: “We’re delighted the day raised such an impressive amount for Help for Heroes and for the football club – it highlights the generosity of our colleagues and friends in the industry. We’re very grateful to HRBFC for making the tournament possible and for providing us with fantastic hospitality. We hope to make this event a permanent annual fixture in the calendar.”

Known for putting ‘the fun in insurance’, Markerstudy Group has gone one step further, celebrating its rapid growth and achievements over the last 12 months with the first ever ‘Markerstudy Day’ on Friday 30th November, raising £3,623.73 for a number of charities.
Around 1,200 Markerstudy Group staff from Auto Windscreens to Zenith Insurance threw themselves into the spirit of the day, ‘auctioning’ themselves off to colleagues and submitting photos for an internal ‘studs and babes’ calendar in aid of the Rhys Daniels Trust and The Pickering Cancer Drop in Centre. Mechanics and engineers at TCW Vehicle Repair Group in Canterbury cleaned customer’s cars in fancy dress, while the Solihull branch braved plummeting temperatures in mankinis, in aid of Help for Heroes.
Group employees across the country, and as far afield as Gibraltar, arrived at offices decorated with balloons and banners dressed in their pyjamas, as superheroes, stage and screen icons and fictional characters. Staff pulled out all the stops, arranging cake sales and ‘cook-offs’, golf putting and table tennis tournaments, virtual cycle rides and quizzes, for good causes including Demelza, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Barnardo’s. Further excitement was generated by the ‘Massive Markerstudy Gift Giveaway’, with staff winning an item of jewellery or watch every 20 seconds, worth from £50 to over £13,000.
Lizzie Smith-Foreman, Head of Group Marketing and Communications, said: “We wanted to dedicate a day to celebrate our growth and success as a group, and this was the perfect way to thank all our staff for their hard work over the past year. In true Markerstudy style, everyone threw themselves into the day and putting the ‘fun’ into fundraising!”

Auto Windscreens’ technicians Steve Abrahams and Mark Blaylock fought off stiff competition from the best in the country to take both gold and silver at the UK Master Fitter final on 16-17 November.
Now in its third year, UK Master Fitter is part of WorldSkills UK, which runs national and international competitions, designed to showcase talent in vocational skills in different business sectors. WorldSkills UK is managed by the National Apprenticeship Service, in partnership with organisations from industry and education.
Steve, who works from the Newcastle fitting centre and Mark, who is based in Leeds, were among six top scoring technicians from the seven regional heats in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland competing for the title. The final took place at The Skills Show at the NEC, where competitors were required to repair and replace a windscreen and a side and rear window, all within a specified timeframe and under the watchful eye of the UK Master Fitter judges.
Theo Paphitis, Patron of the Skills Show, said: “Congratulations to the winners of this year’s WorldSkills UK National Competition Finals. There has been some fantastic work produced and I hope this will show everyone how Apprenticeships and vocational training can lead to worthwhile and valuable careers.”
Nigel Davies, Managing Director of Auto Windscreens, commented: “We’re so proud that Steve holds the title of UK Master Fitter, and that Mark followed closely behind in second place. These medals not only pay tribute to the fantastic technicians we have at Auto Windscreens, but also our superb support teams including Technical and Innovation as well as our fitting centre managers. I’ve always known it, and now it’s official - to quote the words from Tina Turner – we’re simply the best, better than all the rest!”

Markerstudy Group is due to launch Drive-to-Ensure, a campaign to raise awareness of road safety and promote safer driving to young people aged 11 and older.
The group’s in-house Talent Development department teamed up with its own brand, Insurance Factory, to create and deliver the project, and completed two pilot sessions in the South East in June and July.
Anita Gray, Project Manager at Markerstudy, said: “I was shocked to discover that 25,023 people were killed or seriously injured on Great Britain’s roads last year, which was an increase of 2% on 2010 figures and the first annual increase since 1994*. To put it in context, that’s enough people to fill all seats in the auditorium of the Royal Albert Hall nearly five times.
“It’s also a fact that young male drivers are most at risk of being killed, while females are more likely to be killed while travelling as passengers**. It’s clear to us that something needs to be done to educate young people, and before they pass their test. As an insurance provider specialising in cover for young drivers, we have a responsibility to encourage safer driving, especially in this demographic.”
Trials were undertaken at Frogmore Community College in Yateley, with groups of pupils in year 7 and 8. Pete Platt, Assistant Headteacher at Frogmore Community College, described the course as “well-structured...utilising some hard-hitting facts with hands-on activities” and “a must for any personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education or learning for life programme either at Key Stage 3 or 4”.
Drive-to-Ensure features a presentation with a real-life case study of a mother who lost her 12-year old son to an accident caused by a young driver and a reconstruction of a 16-car motorway crash in foggy conditions. Four principles – Drive Slow, Drive Sober, Drive Silent and Drive Secure are explored using interactive games which have been specifically devised to complement the curriculum.
The activities aim to address issues including speed, drink and drug driving and the use of mobile phones and seatbelts, as well as educating children about car insurance. Participants are asked to ‘pay’ an insurance premium in Drive-to-Ensure banknotes in order to take part, are subject to ‘fines’ for ‘dangerous driving’ and are awarded with ‘no claims discount’ vouchers for completing an exercise ‘safely’.
Pupils demonstrate what they have learnt through a drama workshop and quiz, and certificates are presented to the ‘Safest Team’, ‘Safest Driver’ and ‘Best Team Player’. Mr Platt added: “Our students clearly enjoyed the programme and consolidated old and new knowledge regarding the responsibilities of owning and driving a car.”
Anita concluded: “It’s important children understand the serious message behind the initiative, but we recognised it would have more impact if delivered in a fun way. Our drive to ensure young people’s safety on the roads has well and truly begun and we can’t wait for the official launch!”
Drive-to-Ensure was developed with the support of Kent County Council’s Road Safety team, which assisted with the conceptualisation of the programme. It is due to be rolled out to secondary schools in Kent from Road Safety Week in November.

Chesterfield-based Auto Windscreens has strengthened its team with two new National Sales Managers, who will look after insurance clients. Helen Meacock worked for the company for nearly 17 years previously and returns after 18 months at Aviva, and Steve Ward joins from Nexus Vehicle Management.
Helen Meacock left Auto Windscreens in March 2011 to work as a Contract Manager for the motor supply chain at Aviva. After a period of illness, she has decided to return to sales and will develop existing partnerships and identify new business. Helen’s first role at Auto Windscreens was as a regional Sales Representative based in Liverpool in 1994. She then became Sales Manager for the north west, before being promoted to Partnership Manager and Senior Partnership Manager.
Helen said: "It wasn’t a difficult decision to come back to Auto Windscreens. I have a real knowledge about the products and the industry and am very passionate about the company. In fact, if you cut me in half, I believe you’d find ’Auto Windscreens’ written all the way through!"
Steve was an Area Sales Manager at Nexus Vehicle Management for two and a half years. He has 12 years’ experience in the fleet industry, previously working for Enterprise Rent a Car. The role at Auto Windscreens will see him move into national sales and manage insurer accounts.
Steve commented: “I was impressed by the growth at Auto Windscreens over the last year and the opportunities it offers its staff. I was ’sold’ on the infectious energy and enthusiasm of everyone I’ve met. This is a company that’s going places and I want to be a part of it.”

Auto Windscreens has teamed up with technology company Auto-m8 to offer a unique solution to fleet managers. All customers for the glass repair and replacement company are now able to benefit from free access to the new Auto-m8 app for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android phones.
The Auto-m8 app has six functions designed to make life easier for fleet managers. The ‘Assist’ function includes call buttons to connect a driver to the local police station and their insurer, broker or fleet manager, helping to control the First Notification of Loss for every incident. It can take photos and voice memos at the scene and note down witness and third party details – which can be compiled into a full accident report. If glass becomes damaged, ‘Assist’ links straight through to Auto Windscreens’ booking line, to get it repaired as quickly as possible with one of the company’s 24-hour mobile technicians.
Auto-m8 allows managers to assess fleet efficiency by keeping track of each vehicle’s ‘life’ using mileage charts, fuel consumption graphs and average fill-up and running costs in the ‘Stats’ section. Data on personal and business mileage for the whole fleet and for individuals can also be recorded and automatically emailed in a monthly report. The driver benefits too, as each trip can be logged on a spreadsheet for expenses claims via the ‘Trip’ button and the nearest petrol stations can be located in the ‘Fuel’ screen.
Auto-m8 also features a ‘Vault’ to store policy documents and other paperwork. The ‘Remind’ button can make managing a fleet even easier, with users able to set email or SMS alerts for MOT, service and road tax due dates and insurance renewals.
Richard Barnes, Creative Director of Auto-m8, explains: “We know the job of the fleet manager has become increasingly demanding over the past few years, with the rising cost of fuel, the pressure to run greener vehicles and the duty of care employers have to employees, as outlined in recent legislation. Auto-m8’s six functions make life that little bit easier - from tracking spend and efficiency, to helping to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and dealing with accidents, should they occur.”
Nigel Davies, Managing Director of Auto Windscreens, said: “We recognised the benefits of Auto-m8 immediately and I’m confident the fleet market will too. It’s also a company that shares our ethos – to help keep fleet vehicles on the road, which, in turn, keep businesses running. We’re proud to be the only glass repair and replacement company to be able to offer this app as an added benefit to customers and we look forward to introducing fleet managers to our newest ‘m8’ soon!”

Clive Fulcher, Head of Direct Products at Zenith Insurance, said: “Joining comparethemarket.com and MoneySupermarket.com’s panels means Zenith’s direct private car products can be found on all major UK aggregator sites.
“The product provided via price comparison sites differs from our broker offering, and is specifically targeted at drivers with a high annual mileage, performance, prestige and modified vehicles.
“We look forward to working in partnership with comparethemarket.com and MoneySupermarket.com, which will give us even better access to our niche customers.”

Following being awarded ISO 9001 for customer service in May, Auto Windscreens has now gained two more internationally-recognised standards, which acknowledge its commitment to health and safety and the environment.
Derbyshire-based Auto Windscreens has rallied round to raise funds for Cancer Relief, after the local charity was conned out of £10,000 worth of stock.
Cancer Relief was founded four years ago by Steve and Tracey Coupe after family and friends were affected by cancer. It relies on donations of clothing from members of the public, which it sells in bulk to recycling companies. The profit made is used to help cancer sufferers pay for treatment and ongoing care.
On 21st May the charity agreed a deal with a company, which agreed to buy 6.5 tonnes of donated clothing. After visiting the company, Cancer Relief arranged for the stock to be collected the following week, but never received payment.
Steve said: “Following numerous calls to their office to chase payment, we threatened legal action and suddenly the company’s website disappeared. We’ve also discovered the offices have been vacated so we’re unable to trace them.”
Auto Windscreens, which has its headquarters in Chesterfield, became aware of the situation and staff filled a van with goods to send to the charity. Books, bedding, ornaments, clothes, toys and even a TV were delivered and the company also donated £250.
Steve added: “We’ve had a very tough time over the last few months – we’ve had to shut our shop in Derby and make two employees redundant. We’re so grateful for the support from volunteers and the help we’ve received from local businesses like Auto Windscreens – their kindness has renewed my faith in human nature.
“Unfortunately we’ve still got a long way to go to rebuild the organisation. We’re receiving around six calls a day from sufferers we can’t help as we haven’t got the funds, so I’d urge people to visit the website and give what they can. We’d also appreciate any bags of clothing donated to our Clay Cross shop at the Coney Green Network Centre.”

Following being awarded ISO 9001 for customer service in May, Auto Windscreens has now gained two more internationally-recognised standards, which acknowledge its commitment to health and safety and the environment.
ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 have been awarded to the company by the British Standards Institution (BSI), one of the world’s leading certification bodies. The two accreditations cover the head office in Chesterfield and all 27 fitting centres nationwide.
ISO 14001 is designed to address the right balance between maintaining business profitability and reducing environmental impact. Companies are required to demonstrate their commitment to ‘green’ business practises and monitoring energy consumption and use of natural resources. Auto Windscreens’ Environmental Management System (EMS) ensures all issues are managed internally for each geographical area and for each department. All environmental inputs and outputs are measured and reported on every six months. The EMS will be monitored through internal audits and assessed by external bodies.
Mark Foster, Service Delivery Director for Auto Windscreens, explains: “Of all our fitting centres, the Edinburgh site covers the largest area, and on average, a technician can do as many as 1,000 miles per week. Wherever possible, we minimise travelling distances by scheduling work runs geographically, to maximise service delivery and minimise environmental impact. None of our waste is sent to landfill – it’s all recycled. The windscreens and windows we remove, for example, become glass bottles and when our company vehicles are serviced, waste oil is collected for reprocessing.”
OHSAS 18001 for occupational health and safety helps companies to identify, control and reduce risk. Mark added: “The nature of our business means we have many different ‘workplaces’, from offices and fitting centres, to roadsides and driveways. We’re committed to keeping our staff, customers and visitors safe, wherever they are.
“Auto Windscreens is dedicated to managing its health and safety and environmental responsibilities with the same degree of expertise and enthusiasm as it manages all other aspects of its business.
“Achieving all three standards is the result of the combined effort of each member of our team, but a special mention must go to Vanessa Jones, our Health and Safety Manager and Quality and Auditing Officer, Mark Oldfield, who managed the process. These standards enable us to demonstrate our commitment to deliver the highest standards of quality and service to our customers and safety to our staff, while ensuring consistency across all sections of the business.”

As part of an impressive growth initiative, Auto Windscreens has opened the doors of six new fitting centres around the UK in the past month.
Responding to demand for its services in Derbyshire, the company has launched a fitting centre at its head office in Storforth Lane, Chesterfield, to cover the whole of the county. A new site is located in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, where a team of four, managed by Simon Bick, will look after Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire.
The new Saltney, Chester branch, handles work from Merseyside and North Wales and South Wales is served by the Cardiff centre, where staff will benefit from the local knowledge of Manager, Terry Webster from Caerphilly.
Following increased enquiries from Essex and Norfolk, new sites have also opened in Colchester and Norwich. Some 25 new technicians have been recruited so far and Auto Windscreens expects to take on additional staff in the coming year.
Managing Director, Nigel Davies, said: "We’re seeing an increase in work right across the country and our six new sites are perfectly positioned to assist our fleet and motor trade customers, as well as members of the public. In many cases we’re on industrial estates and are surrounded by car dealerships.
"We chose sites close to motorways and links to big towns and cities, as well as tourist hot-spots, so it’s easy for us to get to our customers as quickly as possible. We’re pleased to now be offering a local service to so many areas - and we look forward to working with businesses, locals and visitors in our new locations.”

Mark Foster, Auto Windscreens Service Delivery Director (pictured right with Mark Oldfield, Quality and Auditing Officer), said: “There’s no doubt we’re setting the standard for exceptional customer service in the industry. Markerstudy Insurance has been selected as the underwriter for an innovative new scheme which offers fairer motor insurance premiums by basing them on driving style and behaviour.
Fair Pay Insurance was born out of a partnership between Motaquote and TomTom and is being billed as the ‘new era of car insurance’. It uses the latest navigation and in-car technology to calculate the price policy-holders are charged, based on the number of miles driven, the type of road and time of travel. The product is aimed at drivers who are paying, or expect to pay, more than £1,000 for their car insurance, and despite being good drivers, feel unfairly charged.
Gary Humphreys, Group Underwriting Director for Markerstudy Group, said: “We’ve been working with Motaquote in the provision of its niche products for almost 12 months, firstly with iKube, which is aimed at young drivers, and now with Fair Pay Insurance. We’re proud to have been given the green light to underwrite this ingenious product. Fair Pay Insurance is steering the industry in the right direction, towards fairer premiums and giving the control back to the customer.”

Auto Windscreens has had a particularly successful second and third quarter of the year, having won business from several insurers - the latest being Windscreen Insurance Services Limited (WISL) and Gladiator, the Admiral Group’s commercial vehicle insurance broker.

Auto Windscreens will deal with claims from all third party, fire and theft customers.
Mark Stafford, Managing Director of WISL, said: “We were attracted by Auto Windscreen’s commitment to good service. The satisfaction surveys offered after each repair or replacement job gives us unrivalled levels of monitoring and helps to ensure our customers are well looked after.”
Steve Taylor at Gladiator, said: “Our customers are busy trades people and are reliant on their vehicles. With reports of a possible return of La Niña, a climate phenomenon which is linked to extreme weather events, Auto Windscreens is advising all UK motorists to prepare for an expected cold snap.
According to Auto Windscreens’ Innovation and Training Manager, Chris Bonsall, following simple advice through the winter months could save money and avoid costly repairs. Chris has worked in the industry for nearly 40 years and advises where drivers park their cars can have a bearing on whether they are affected by ice and snow.
Chris advises: “Whenever possible, always park your vehicle in a garage overnight, next to a building or even between other cars to give it some protection from the elements. If your vehicle is covered in snow, remove it all, not just from your windscreen, as built-up snow on roofs and bonnets can slide off and obstruct your view.”
The correct care of glass in vehicles can save time in the longer term and prevent damage. Chris adds: “Clean glass, lights and mirrors regularly as grit and salt can make them dirty very quickly. Ideally, when leaving your car, protect glass with a special removable cover, but if you do need to remove ice, never pour boiling water on it, which could cause it to crack or explode.”
Chris’ list of winter ‘must-have’ equipment is simple and inexpensive - de-icer and an ice scraper: “Use a good quality de-icer – have two cans handy in case you run out - and a proper ice-scraper - as CD cases and other makeshift scrapers can scratch. Clear all glass and mirrors of frost and snow - never make ‘portholes’.
Ensure side windows are free of frost at the edges of the felt or rubber runners to prevent damage to the opening mechanism.”
Chris believes all motorists should give their vehicles regular winter ‘health checks’ in cold weather: “Check your wiper blades for wear and don’t pull them off an icy windscreen, as the rubber on the blade will tear. Ensure you top up with anti-freeze screen wash daily and don’t be tempted to use washing-up liquid in place of anti-freeze, particularly in cold weather. And finally - check your windscreen for damage - if you see any chips or cracks get specialist advice as soon as possible from Auto Windscreens.”

Auto Windscreens is the first national automotive glazing supplier to receive accreditation from SAFEcontractor, an SSIP scheme (Safe Systems in Procurement) that recognises very high standards of health and safety practice amongst UK businesses.
Under the SAFEcontractor accreditation system, Auto Windscreens went through a vetting process, which examined health and safety procedures and its track record for safe practice.
"Health and safety has always been high on the corporate agenda of Auto Windscreens, and our Management Team encourages an interest in health and safety amongst all colleagues" said Vanessa Jones, Health and Safety Manager.
"We ask our colleagues to take time to report problems with standards, work instructions, procedures or any other aspects of health and safety that they have concerns about."
Windscreen repair and replacement involves not only heavy pieces of glass but sensitive bonding substances which need to be regulated by health and safety procedures.
"SAFEcontractor accreditation has shown that this approach pays off".
A comprehensive schedule of companies that are accredited by the scheme, and have therefore achieved the prescribed high standards, are accessible in an online database on the website

Auto Windscreens Technical Training Centre has once again had its approved Centre status confirmed by GQA Qualifications, which now means that Auto Windscreens has held this status for almost 20 years.
Mick Clayton, Acting Chief Executive of GQA, the Awarding Organisation for Automotive Glazing qualifications visited Chris Bonsall, Technical Training Manager at the Auto Windscreens Training Centre in Chesterfield in August to carry out the annual Quality Assurance process that all GQA Approved Centres are subject to.
Mick said "It was great to see that despite changes within Auto Windscreens, training and qualifications for its Technicians remains a key part of the business strategy. Auto Windscreens is by far the most prolific Employer Centre we work with in terms of numbers of qualified employees and we are delighted to approve Auto Windscreens once again to deliver qualifications in Automotive Glazing.
"Over the years we receive a number of enquiries and applications from potential Centres wishing to deliver GQA qualifications and we have a comprehensive approval process that checks the suitability of facilities, resources, policies and procedures and perhaps the most important aspect of all is the experience and occupational competence of those involved in the assessment and quality assurance of the qualifications. The team at Auto Windscreens are second to none in this respect and the whole set up is something we are very happy with. GQA are proud to be associated with such a well-known brand as Auto Windscreens and we look forward to many more years working together."
Qualifications for Technicians is becoming a factor in securing new business and PAS 125, a Code of Practice for work done in Bodyshops, has the requirement for qualified Technicians as one of its key factors.
Chris Bonsall, Head of Training and Innovation at Auto Windscreens said "Having worked with GQA since the early 1990s I know how keen they are to keep standards high in their Approved Centres and also to make sure the qualifications are kept current and fit for purpose, and I look forward to using the latest qualifications from GQA to help develop our Technicians and in turn secure additional contracts from customers."

Fleet Manager for Auto Windscreens, Andy Gray, was commended for his bravery at the Derbyshire Police Headquarters’ Awards Ceremony, and presented with a Royal Humane Society award by David Coke-Steel, High Sheriff of Derbyshire.
The award was bestowed on Andy for courageously saving a man who was drowning and near to death in the River Rother at Somersall Park, Chesterfield.
Andy recounts the events that unfolded on the evening of 27th April 2010 when he and his wife were walking through Somersall Park. “A member of the public was pointing to a man laying face down in the river with just his arm sticking above the water. We swam into the river and dragged him up the river bank whilst my wife called the emergency services. It was evident that the man was not breathing, his face was blue and covered in mud. We turned him on his back, cleared his airways and administered chest compressions. Eventually there was a gurgle and a splutter and the man started to breathe. We put him in the recovery position and kept him conscious until the emergency services arrived”.
The man was taken to hospital and was released a few days later having made a full recovery.
Andy adds “I suppose you could say it was all about being in the right place at the right time and taking control of a situation that could have quite easily resulted in someone’s death”.
Nigel Davies, Managing Director of Auto Windscreens, comments “We are all extremely proud of Andy Gray and delighted that his bravery has been recognised publicly”.

The Savoy played host to one of the most memorable parties in the history of the insurance industry on Saturday 7th May, and one that the majority of guests will be reluctant to forget.
The party honoured the tenth anniversary of Markerstudy Group and celebrated the ‘life of Markerstudy’ and the determination of directors Kevin Spencer, Gary Humphreys and Keith Barber.
Months in the planning, it was seamless in its execution, with ‘little people’ actors as ushers, Gibraltar through the ages theme, an animated film documenting each year, and outstanding entertainment.
Stellar performances by Tony Hadley, Tee Green and comic veteran Tom O’Connor were enjoyed by all, as was the game hosted by Chris Tarrant and Mike Osman, whilst the lavish fancy dress worn by guests heightened the sense of fun and occasion.
The party rocked on until the early hours of Sunday morning, followed swiftly by an abundance of congratulations on hosting ‘the party of a decade’!

Since the announcement on 28 February of Auto Windscreen’s rescue from obscurity by Trifords, there is already more than a glimmer of ‘new shoots’ about the company.
250 positions have been filled; 100 in the Chesterfield head office and a further 150 across the UK in 20 regional branches.
With ambitious plans to extend their network from 20 to 35 sites within two years, and further recruitment in the offing for technicians with a high level of customer service, AW is very firmly on the up.
Currently trading with 300 companies across the UK (including major fleet and insurance companies), the projection for year end is 5 times this figure.
SLA
They operate a 24/7 service for both appointment handling and fitting. Being part of an insurance group, there is a greater understanding of the key issues faced by a supplier. First and foremost, service is key.
To this end, they have announced details of their service level agreement:
- urgent requirements attended to within 2 hours
- call centre will answer at least 97% of all calls
- 85% of calls to be answered within 15 seconds
- customer satisfaction score aim 9 out of 10
Nigel Davies, who is overseeing the management of Auto Windscreens, advises that the current call response is 99% of all calls answered, 90% of which are answered within 10 seconds.
Complete autonomy
Nigel’s aim is to re-establish Auto Windscreens as a major national automotive glass provider – offering a local service solution sustained by a centralised support structure. He comments: “Our new model allows managers in our network complete autonomy, enabling them to guarantee prompt response times by managing their team of technicians and controlling all stock requirements themselves.”
New recruitment
The IT and communications infrastructure in place at the Auto Windscreens head office in Chesterfield has been eagerly embraced by the Zenith arm of the Markerstudy Group business. A FNOL centre has been established and eight agents are currently being recruited.
Nigel continues: “Our employees are instilled with the enthusiasm to provide total customer satisfaction. As part of a large group, we are already benefiting from the support and communication initiatives that all other Markerstudy Group employees enjoy, such as Talent Recognition, Red Letter Day points, Company Hero, monthly magazine, and weekly updates from myself. Clear communications from Group CEO, Kevin Spencer, are considered key in integrating the new business.
As we establish our footprint across the country, we are delighted with the significant levels of interest being shown as more companies and customers sign up to our service offering.”
Russell Bence, Head of Markerstudy Group’s retail division, entertained guests from the insurance industry on Wednesday 23rd March at Fradley Croft in Middleton. In surprisingly clement weather, 17 guests from all corners of the insurance industry participated in Quad Biking, Blind Fold Driving, Power Turns, Go Karts and Clay Pigeon Shooting.
The guests were divided in to three teams and went head to head to battle it out for the coveted winner’s trophy.
The day was deemed an enormous success and with aching limbs and sun kissed faces the group gathered for some rest and relaxation at the local Indian restaurant.
Markerstudy Group has acquired the business of Beal & Co, based in Snodland, Kent.
Specialising in insurance for Funeral Directors this latest acquisition forms part of the Group’s aggressive growth strategy, reinforcing their appetite for niche business and adding an estimated £1m GWP to the Group.
Although remaining in Snodland, Beal & Co will move to new shop front premises.
Kevin Spencer, Group CEO comments “The wealth of experience that exists within Beal & Co has been retained to ensure the specific needs of customers will continue to be met. We predict a fast growth curve based on our two pronged approach - to provide a local service whilst increasing the niche business exponentially.”
Markerstudy Group is pushing the boat out this year, and BIBA provides a perfect platform to showcase their spectacular 10th Anniversary celebrations.
With a 48sqm space, Markerstudy promise to generate not just a splash of excitement, but a tidal wave!
As the first third party underwriting insurer domiciled in Gibraltar, their connection to the Rock is thought to be pivotal to the design of this year’s stand.
The pacey personal lines insurer has a few surprises up their sleeves to wow existing and new customers, so grab your compass and head for Stand C6 where you’ll encounter Kevin Spencer as you’ve never seen him before!
Putting fun into insurance…
Trifords Limited, part of the Markerstudy Group of companies, has acquired from the liquidators of Auto Windscreens Limited certain trading assets, including the right to use the trading style ‘Auto Windscreens’. They are delighted to confirm that 250 new jobs will be created in the new business.
Nigel Davies has been appointed to manage the new business, and comments ”it is fantastic news that the Auto Windscreens brand will continue, and from the ashes the phoenix will rise again. Auto Windscreens is a highly recognised brand and therefore the name is being retained. Our intention is to provide a premier service, attracting fleet, insurer and personal customers. My aim is to grow the business in order to become a major player in the UK windscreen business.”
Markerstudy Group is celebrating it’s 10th Birthday this year. Established in 2001 by Kevin Spencer (CEO) and Gary Humphreys (Group Underwriting Director) the company is a privately owned composite financial services organisation. The Group employs in the region of 500 staff throughout the UK – with their head office in Sundridge, Kent, and a new flagship office in Fleet Street London.
Kevin Spencer, Group CEO comments “When opportunities such as Auto Windscreens present themselves we can act quickly, which is exactly what we did on this occasion in order to acquire some valuable assets. Our intention is to build a new business using a known brand name. Of course it is related and complementary to the Group’s core insurance businesses”.
Markerstudy Group has acquired three freehold sites from the Liquidator, including the former Auto Windscreen Limited’s Head Office building in Chesterfield.
To mark the 10th Anniversary of Markerstudy Group, Directors Kevin Spencer, Gary Humphreys and Keith Barber are pushing the boat out... This auspicious occasion is being celebrated in style, with The Savoy playing host to what will be the best insurance party of 2011.
On the evening of Saturday 7th May in excess of 300 invitation-only guests from across the industry will raise a glass of the exceedingly potent spanish brew, Pacharan, to toast Markerstudy’s Birthday in the famous Lancaster Ballroom.
The themed party ‘Gibraltar through the ages’ (chosen as Markerstudy was the first third party underwriting insurer domiciled in Gib) has created a stir, with guests invited to dress with glamour and imagination.
An exciting and eclectic mix of celebrities will be providing the entertainment, including Chris Tarrant, Tony Hadley, Mike Osman and Tee Green. Kevin Spencer, CEO, assured “I guarantee that this party will put the fun into insurance – it will be a night to remember!”
Markerstudy Group has acquired a flagship office in Fleet Street. Plans for the building include offices for senior executives and a Training Academy with potential for future London Market Operations. Renovation work is currently being undertaken, with completion scheduled for 1st February.
The Training Academy will accommodate state of the art classrooms for the Markerstudy Talent Development team, in which bespoke development programmes will be facilitated.
In addition, the ground floor shop front will be utilised by the wholly owned subsidiary, Wessex Finance, the lending arm of the Group which has enjoyed prolific growth.
With top brass from the insurance community invited to enjoy renowned Markerstudy hospitality, everyone was fair game for hi-jinks, Spencer style.

Markerstudy Group has appointed Dan Fiehn to the newly created role of Group Head of IT.
Commencing on 31st January, Dan will be bringing with him 21 years’ insurance experience, having worked in both the insurance industry and IT.
Dan leaves Sterling Insurance Group to join Markerstudy where he spent four and a half years overseeing IT development, including the implementation of the Landscape insurance system. As IT Associate Director, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Dan was responsible for a
twenty one-strong IT team.
Prior to this, Dan gained strong Claims Manager credentials with Consolidated Insurance Group and later London General Holdings, where he made a successful transition into IT; honing his hands-on skills in analytic programming and delivering a bespoke in-house insurance system to US and European offices.
Reporting to the Board, Dan is tasked with building on the achievements of the existing IT team which supports all companies within the Markerstudy Group. He will be responsible for ensuring a flexible strategy for the future growth and core objectives of the group.

Russell Bence has been appointed to the role of Head of Retail within Markerstudy Group.
Having joined the Group in January 2009 as Head of Sales, Russell’s promotion follows a management restructure and refocusing exercise to improve operational efficiencies.
Group CEO, Kevin Spencer, comments “Russell's wealth of experience and sales led approach is a fantastic attribute to the retail division which will lead us through this next stage of our development"
In addition to joining the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) earlier this year, Markerstudy Group now has a presence on the board of the Insurance Fraud Investigators Group (IFIG). Andrew Davies, Senior Fraud Investigator, has stepped up to the plate and agreed to take on the role of Honorary Secretary, until December 2010 when all committee positions will be re-elected. IFIG has approximately 250 members, made up of insurers, solicitors, police forces and fire brigades. Members share intelligence about suspicious cases using an online forum and email alerts. The group meets quarterly, and Markerstudy hope to sponsor one of these meetings in 2011.
Andrew Davies joined the Markerstudy Fraud Team in April 2010. His experience of insurance fraud spans 23 years within Norwich Union and latterly, AVIVA, in roles investigating motor, household and commercial property claims.
Fraud adds an average of £44 to the annual premium cost faced by individual policyholders, and the ABI estimates that undetected general insurance claims fraud totals £1.9bn a year. Markerstudy is fighting the fraud along with the IFB and IFIG.
Launched internally on 1st July 2010, the Talent Development Team, headed up by Tanya Gerrard-White, will take a progressive approach to traditional in-house training.
Using the latest technology, including ipads for one to one sessions, the team will deliver modular training throughout the group.
There will be ongoing personal development plans linked to professional qualifications, progression and career enhancement. Recognition programmes and incentive schemes are also being developed in conjunction with appraisals and KPIs.
Tanya Gerrard-White, a senior business executive, who has been connected with the financial professional services industry for over 15 years, believes strongly that “everyone deserves the chance to be their best”. Her experience covers executive recruitment, leading seminars and think-tanks.
The Talent Development Team will support the business in its continued growth, enabling employees to thrive, be challenged, and hit their own personal targets.
Kevin Spencer, CEO, comments…”This is Markerstudy Group, so by virtue our new department is fun and dynamic. My desire is to nurture our talent and encourage internal promotion. We want our employees to reach their true potential.”
Gary Humphreys, Group Underwriting Director, has appointed underwriters from both Markerstudy and Zenith to form a Group underwriting coalition. With over 170 years of solid insurance experience between them, their combined knowledge is second to none. Each member of the new team has responsibility for developing and managing the underwriting strategy of their account. The team members are located across Markerstudy Group premises in Gibraltar, Sundridge, Haywards Heath and Chelmsford.
The move marks a positive step to ensure consistency and innovation, strengthened relationships with our clients and a high standard of customer service.
Markerstudy Insurance Company Ltd has become the latest company to join the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) in its fight against organised insurance fraud. Markerstudy specialises in niche motor products, having an ability to tailor products to specialist risks such as young drivers, high performance and high value vehicles, unusual occupations, taxis and driving schools.
It is estimated by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) that undetected general insurance claims fraud totals £1.9bn a year, with fraud adding an average of £44 to the annual premium cost faced by individual policyholders.
Allan Peak, Counter-Fraud Manger at Markerstudy, comments: “Fraud represents a significant concern for the motor insurance market, particularly in the economical climate in which we currently find ourselves. Whilst the majority of motor insurers will have their own fit for purpose counter fraud strategies, it is only with a fully conjoined approach that we will maximise the detection and prevention of fraud. The IFB is instrumental in facilitating that collaboration and we are delighted to have become members.”
John Beadle, Board Member of the IFB comments: "We are pleased to welcome Markerstudy to the Bureau membership. Markerstudy’s data, as with all Bureau members, will benefit the industry by feeding the IFB’s sophisticated analytics to develop cross-industry intelligence and identify potential fraudulent networks. The IFB is currently leading and working with the Police on 28 operations on behalf of its members, and this will no doubt continue to build our track record, with over 365 arrests, and convictions generating over 53 years of imprisonment to date.”
I am delighted to advise that following FSC/FSA approval, Markerstudy Holdings has now completed the purchase of Zenith Insurance plc, incorporating Link Underwriting Agency and GHL Insurance Services.
The board would like to extend its thanks to all advisers and companies that assisted in this process from conception to fruition on Friday 19th February 2010.
Zenith has joined a vibrant and dynamic team with its sights set firmly on building a substantial financial services organisation.
With UK offices in Sundridge, Tunbridge Wells, Chelmsford, Haywards Heath, Oxford and Birmingham, plus offices in Gibraltar, the Markerstudy Group comprises underwriting, distribution and support services divisions and provides a wide range of motor insurance policies under various brands.
The future is looking bright for Markerstudy Group – with their belief in the UK retail sector and commitment to operate both the Markerstudy and Zenith brands.
Gary Humphreys
Markerstudy Holdings is delighted to announce the acquisition of Zenith Insurance plc, incorporating Link Insurance and the UK service company GHL Insurance Services Ltd from Guardian Holdings Ltd.
With a £300m GWP target for 2010, to include acquisitions and organic growth, this latest purchase secures for Markerstudy Group £140m GWP.
Kevin Spencer, Group CEO, comments "2010 will undoubtedly be an exhilarating year for us. Our intention is to operate both insurers separately, maintaining both brands. We believe in the vibrant UK retail sector and anticipate extending as much support to our broker clients as we have since 2001. Zenith provides us with another powerful weapon in our armoury and will enable us to compete with the larger insurers in the UK".
Jeff Mack, Group CEO of Guardian Holdings Ltd, states "the disposal of Zenith Insurance and GHL Insurance Services Ltd. is consistent with the Group's strategy of divesting non-core businesses, allowing the Group to focus on its main insurance operations including its investments at Lloyd's."
Formed in 2001, Markerstudy was the first insurer established in Gibraltar passporting into the UK.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approval from both the FSC in Gibraltar and the FSA in the UK. Aon Benfield Securities Limited acted as financial adviser to Markerstudy on the transaction. KPMG Corporate Finance acted as financial adviser to Guardian Holdings Ltd.
Markerstudy is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Stone as Niche Underwriting Manager. Commencing on 1st January 2010, Steve will report to Gary Humphreys, Underwriting Director.
Steve joins Markerstudy from QBE where he worked for over 28 years. During this time he was a member of the management team who acquired the Torch Motor Syndicate in 1999, completed a management buyout of the Ensign Motor Syndicate in 2001 and was responsible for the UK specialist personal lines portfolio and International Motor binding authorities.
With a remit to develop a portfolio of niche motor business through a network of established intermediary contacts, Steve and his team will be based in Chelmsford, Essex.
Steve comments “With continually improving trading conditions, but contraction in the motor market, I am excited by the prospect of helping to support the growth ambitions of the Markerstudy Group”.
Markerstudy is delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Collins as Head of Markerstudy Distribution Network.
Beginning his career with 3M Company as a territory sales rep, Gary progressed into management positions of increasing seniority, culminating in his appointment as European Market Development Manager. In 2001, Gary moved to Securicor Cash Services Ltd as Head of Sales for the UK Region, and then to Fresh Insurance Group where he held the position of General Manager.
Gary comments: “I am keen to bring my wealth of knowledge and experience to Markerstudy and to be an integral element in its quest for growth and performance.”
Markerstudy is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Copeland as Director of Business Development.

Paul then joined Link Insurance in Northallerton, where he progressed through the ranks and consequently relocated to the south of England to become Agency Manager, responsible for the development and maintenance of Link's 3,500 brokers.
Following Link's merger with Zenith, Paul remained with the group to become Business Development Manager for GHL Insurance Services, the UK service provider to Zenith Insurance.
Commented Paul: “My new appointment is extremely exciting. Markerstudy is clearly committed to growth within the broker sector and I consider my skills will perfectly complement such a dynamic insurer.”
