Meet the
Gary Humphreys
Group Underwriting Director
Gary is the second largest shareholder and joint founder of
Markerstudy Group of Companies. After 20 years at Lloyd’s in
the underwriting market – mainly in motor lines – Gary joined
forces with Kevin Spencer in 1997 to establish the MGA that
became Markerstudy. Gary continues to head the insurance
operations, as well as contributing to the development of the
other group companies.

Keith Barber
Group Finance Director
After gaining a first class degree in Economics and Business
Economics at Southampton University, Keith qualified as a
Chartered Accountant while working for Ernst and Young.
He then joined KPMG in a succession of highly successful senior
auditing roles, before accepting the new challenge of Financial
Controller in various divisions of Equity Group. Keith joined the
board of Markerstudy in 2005 with responsibility for all financial
aspects of the group.
Martyn Holman
Group Commercial Director
Martyn has an insurance career spanning nearly 40
years and a wealth of experience in underwriting,
broking, sales and management. Before joining
Markerstudy in January 2014, he spent 11 years at
Brightside in the retail insurance broking arm of
the business, and secured the position of CEO in
2012. At Markerstudy, Martyn is responsible for
identifying and developing new opportunities
throughout the group and strengthening existing
relationships.
Kevin Spencer
Group Chief Executive Officer
Kevin is the founder, majority
shareholder and CEO of Markerstudy
Group of Companies.
From his early days with a small
provincial broker, to Agency Consultant
and subsequently Managing Director of
Lloyd's broker Edgar Hamilton and
Wellard, Kevin's belief in the
intermediary market as a strong
distribution channel remains
unshakeable. To date, Kevin considers
the creation of Markerstudy Group to be
his proudest achievement. In 2015 this
was borne out when Markerstudy was
cited as an ‘Extraordinary’ company to
work for and gained three stars – the
highest status available – from Best
Companies, for the 3rd year running.
