Motor Policies, Holdsure,
Link Insurance and GHL Insurance

Wendy
Hilder FCII
Group Underwriting
and Capacity Manager
Wendy has been with Makerstudy
since 2006, bringing with her
over 20 years’ experience in
the insurance market.
As Group Underwriting and Capacity
Manager, her role includes
responsibility for Insurer Capacity
Arrangements, Underwriting
Operations, Policy Application Fraud
Team, Operational Standards, and
Business Change teams.

Stone
Head of Product
Steve joined Markerstudy Group in
2010, after nearly 29 years with
Ensign/QBE. During this period he
spent 15 years underwriting motor
business around the globe, in
several European countries,
Australia, New Zealand and Africa.
Steve was one of the Ensign
Management team involved in the
purchase of the Torch motor
syndicate in 1999. The same team
then carried out a management
buyout of Ensign from Limit in 2001,
subsequently selling the business to
QBE in 2004.

Chris
Staples
Group Product Manager
Chris has over 30 years’
experience in insurance.
Starting out as a trainee insurance
technician and progressing into
management roles, Chris
discovered an aptitude for
innovative IT solutions. He has
subsequently worked on a number
of system redesign projects.
Chris joined Markerstudy in 2007
as Product Manager.
His team is responsible for the
development of products,
maintenance and accuracy at point
of sale and delivery of EDI to the
business.

Peter Smith
Technical Underwriting
Director
Peter has enjoyed more than 30 years
in insurance. His experience includes
private car and commercial vehicle,
from agency set up to building
products and policy wordings with a
particular interest in niche business.
Peter is now based in Gibraltar and is
working in the telematics arena.
He also looks after much of the
private car and commercial vehicle
business from the smaller brokers
who add value by using their
knowledge of the customer to make
an underwriting difference.

Paul Smith
Group Claims Director
As Group Claims Director, Paul is
tasked with the handling and control
of higher value claims. With over 30
years' experience in the UK motor
insurance market, Paul is recognised
for his considerable experience in the
management of catastrophic injury
claims, particularly those involving
spinal cord or brain injury. To this end,
he is involved in market initiatives
both in the UK and Gibraltar and is a
member of several industry groups.

Clive
Fulcher
Head of Development
With a career in insurance spanning
more than 23 years, Clive joined
Markerstudy in 2011 from BGL Group,
where he worked for 11 years.
In his current role as
Head of Development, Clive
concentrates predominantly on
telematics and MGAs.

Mark
Pratt
Head of Group Service
and Supply
Mark joined Wayside Milton Keynes in
July 1998 as Operations Manager,
following which a change in personal
circumstances prompted him to
relocate to Essex where he worked
for a large independent bodyshop
looking after prestige vehicle brands.
In 2006 Mark joined DWS Bodyworks,
progressing to Group Operations
Director, and overseeing 15 sites.
He joined Markerstudy in December
2011, initially as TCW Group
Operations Manager, and then as
Managing Director.
In 2014, following the sale of TCW
Group, Mark moved into a new role
overseeing numerous aspects of
service and supply across the group.
