Target market
Characteristics of target market:
- Customers who are resident in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and where the vehicle is registered in the UK.
- Customers aged between 27 and 70 years old (inclusive). 27-29 are subject to Grade A scoring within the assessment by the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency.
- Customers requiring annual (12 months) cover.
- Customers requiring Comprehensive cover.
- Customers who have held a full UK Licence for a minimum of 72 months.
- Customers with a vehicle valued up to £35,000.
- Customers who are Trainer/PDI/ADI driving instructors.
- Customers with minor motoring convictions, subject to additional terms.
- Customers with 3 claims or less within the last 3 years, although those with 2 or more theft/fault claims will be subject to referral.
- Customers including those with nil NCB.
- Customers with petrol, diesel, electric and leased vehicles.
Objectives, needs and interests of the target market. This Product:
- Provides cover for driving tuition use only.
- Allows private cars valued up to £35,000.
- Provides Comprehensive cover as the only option.
- Imposes no restrictions on annual mileage.
- Provides cover up to the market value of the car at the time of accident, loss, or theft.
- Provides cover for the proposer and family members over 25 to use the vehicle for Social, Domestic, and Pleasure use.
- Provides cover against third party claims arising out of the use of the vehicle. Cover is also provided for accidental damage, fire, and theft to the insured vehicle.
- Provides cover when the car is being driven in the EU or any other country which has agreed to follow the EU Directive on Insurance of Civil Liabilities for up to 30 days per year.
- Allows Driving Other Car (DOC) cover.
Unsuitable for:
- Proposers who do not require insurance for a private car primarily used for the purpose of driving tuition.
- Proposers under 27 or over 70 years old.
- Proposers who have held a full licence for less than 72 months.
- Proposers with a vehicle which exceeds £35,000 in value.
- Proposers who require short-term cover (i.e., less than 12 months).
- Proposers whose main occupation is not a Driving Instructor.
- Proposers who want to use the car for business use, other than for driving tuition.
- Proposers living outside the United Kingdom or Northern Ireland.
- Proposers requiring Third Party, Fire and Theft or Third Party Only cover. Proposers who have had a previous policy cancelled or declared void by an insurer.
- Any proposer with a vehicle which is more than 15 years old or is a convertible or a left hand drive vehicle.
- Any proposer who lives on a boat or in a caravan (sited or un-sited).
- Any proposer looking to insure a vehicle not owned by the Policyholder/Spouse/Civil
- Spouse/Civil Partner or Leased.
- Any proposer with a ‘major’ conviction.
- Any proposers with a non-motoring conviction.
- Any Proposer with more than 3 claims in the last 3 years.
