Getting to know you – Claims SMT

Some you may know, some you may not...we’d like to introduce you to our Claims Senior Management Team, and in particular to our two newest recruits – Nick Hilton and Kelly Atfield.

Nick heads up our Third Party Claims unit, while Kelly is our Specialist First Party Manager. Both bring with them a wealth of experience and fresh ideas from their previous roles. Find out more about them and some more familiar faces:

Steve Cross Choice

I have more than 22 years’ industry experience and joined Markerstudy Group nearly seven years ago.
What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
What surprised me (pleasantly, may I add!) was the freedom and empowerment given to people to make things happen. This has been and remains a key asset which has enabled Markerstudy to remain nimble and stay ahead of the competition! This is particularly relevant in claims function, where we continually strive to improve all aspects of our performance, focusing on what’s important to the Markerstudy Group. Phrases like ‘resting on our laurels’ and ‘just follow the rest of the market’ just do not appear in our claims manual!

I have 30 years’ motor claims experience, encompassing both technical and operational roles.
What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
The speed of growth, which is due to a variety of factors, not least that Markerstudy is a very agile business with positive, energetic staff who are encouraged to challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions to modern day insurance problems.

I have been working in insurance claims since 1993 for a number of general insurers.
What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
I probably shouldn’t have been surprised, seeing as we were named 11th in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For list 2014, but the level of commitment, passion and enthusiasm staff have for the for the company is amazing. It really is a great place to work.

Kelly Attfield Choice

For the last 15 years I worked at Direct Line Group and more recently as a Relationship Manager for Claims.
What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
I like the way everyone works together. There is also a clear focus on wanting to do the best for staff, whilst focusing on delivering an excellent service to customers.

I have worked in insurance since I was 21 and joined Markerstudy in 2008, where I’ve worked in a number of roles.
What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
Looking back and remembering only a handful of people in a small office in 2008 and seeing what Markerstudy has achieved since then is amazing.

What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
I’ve been surprised about the speed in which change happens at Markerstudy and also how interested the company are in new ideas from all members of staff.

What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
I’ve been surprised at the speed of change and our desire to ensure we are market leaders and not followers!

I have 24 years’ third party claims experience, the last 16 of which have been in specialist counter fraud roles.
What has surprised you most about working at Markerstudy?
I’ve been surprised by the speed at which the company moves and make decisions. Its courage to buck the trend by not following the market if it isn’t in the group’s best interest is impressive.
